According The Athletic, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta he has his sights on signing Newcastle UnitedEdit Forward Alexander Isak.

The Gunners currently have Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as centre-forward options, but the latter has been hugely disappointing. Havertz has scored 8 goals in the campaign, but Jesús only has 1 goal which came in the Carabao Cup.

The club obviously needs improvement in the department and The Athletic They claim Arteta would like to bring Isak to the Gunners. He is athletic, versatile and first division-Ready and has been identified as the perfect acquisition for the London giants.

However, an agreement is not easy for the Gunners. Newcastle are determined to keep their star asset and as a result a deal may not be feasible. Isak has 3 more years left on his contract with the Magpies after the current campaign.

It's not easy

Isak has established himself as one of the best center forwards in the Premier League. The Swedish star started his Magpies career slowly but was brilliant in his second campaign with 25 goals in 40 games under coach Eddie Howe.

He had an indifferent start to the season due to a broken toe, but since his return last month, he has been in brilliant form with 4 goals to his name. Isak has all the attributes that Arteta prefers and could become the Gunners' main striker.

The former Real Sociedad star has the ability to get into deeper attacking positions to connect play. He has also stood out for his speed and dribbling ability. The 25-year-old can also be a threat in and around the opposition box with his aerial ability.

Despite the positives, Arsenal have a big challenge on their hands to convince the Magpies to part ways with Isak, who has been described as “world class' by Howe.

There has been talk that he could sign him for a package of more than £100 millionbut Newcastle has a big advantage due to the length of his contract. They could easily demand a much larger package to sanction the striker's departure next summer.
