Arne Slot's Liverpool are nine points clear with Man City's victory and Supercomputer predicts title chances – can anyone stop them?
Arne Slot's Liverpool are on course to win the Premier League title in their first season.
Opta's supercomputer has predicted the likelihood of them lifting the crown next year, and it's damning for their closest rivals.
The Reds moved nine points clear of second place with a convincing 2-0 win over Man City on Sunday.
Mohamed Salah put any contractual noise behind him with a goal and an assist that left them 11 points ahead of last season's champions.
Remarkably, Liverpool have won 11 of their first 13 Premier League games this season and are proving to be the team to beat in Europe.
Now, using betting market odds and Opta power rankings, the supercomputer estimates the outcome of each match (win, lose or draw) before stating the probability of each team finishing in each position.
Using these metrics, the system considers the strength of each team and simulates each match thousands of times to see how often each team finishes in each position.
So how did he do it? Liverpool fee?
Well, of the thousands of games planned, Arne SlotThe team was predicted to finish at the top of the table 83.7 percent of the time.
In comparison, Arsenal finished top 11.2 per cent of the time and Man City 4.3 per cent of the time.
After 13 games, Liverpool are nine points clear at the top of the Premier League, a tally that will be difficult for rivals to overcome, but not impossible.
In 2002/03, Manchester United were nine points adrift of the leaders after 14 games, but rallied from fifth to win the league.
The highest number of points surpassed came in 1997/98, when Arsenal won the Premier League despite being 13 points behind the leaders at mid-season (19 games).
Such has been the incredible nature of his season so far, Slot's start to life at Anfield has seen him outclass his rivals.
So far this season, Slot has beaten Erik ten Hag (Man United), Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen), Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid) and Pep Guardiola (Man City) by a collective score of 11-0.
The omens are good for the Reds and talkSPORT's Adrian Durham believes Liverpool are firmly in control.
Durham said: “Personally I think that's the title done.
“It will take a big collapse from Liverpool and someone else winning all their games to not win the title and I just don't see that happening.
“They are too good this season.”
David O'Leary told talkSPORT: “I had Liverpool, Arsenal and City as the three and we are all shocked at how City have done at the moment and if anyone is going to chase Liverpool now it will be Arsenal.”
“I think that's how it will be, but there's not much room for error.
“There is a long way to go and Liverpool can be caught, but you can't give them much more room to maneuver with the points difference.”
On talkSPORT Breakfast, Ally McCoist said: “By far the best team in Europe at the moment is Liverpool.”
