RB Leipzig are currently in a run of poor form, and that has brought into question the future of Marco Rose. Sky Germany reports that there is already a list of candidates in they event they fire the head coach.
The Saxony side are coming off a 5-1 home loss to Wolfsburg at the weekend and has a tough DFB Pokal round of 16 tie against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday. If things do not improve for Leipzig, then the situation could get worse for Rose.
If they do sack Rose, Leipzig could look to former Benfica head coach Roger Schmidt or former Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag as his replacement. Both are currently without a club and both have been of interest to Leipzig in the past. Schmidt was in talks to become Leipzig coach after they fired Jesse Marsch but he did not want to leave PSV Eindhoven in the middle of the season. Despite not having a club, Schmidt also is currently not in favour of taking over a side mid-season.
The positive for Rose’s future is that the club are in the midst of an injury crisis with several key players out injured with Xavi Simons, Castello Lukeba, Amadou Haidara, David Raum and Xaver Schlager all missing. On top of this, Jürgen Klopp, a former head coach of Rose when he was a player, joins the Red Bull group in the new year, which could relieve some of the pressure.
