Hermoso would certainly be a sensible signing for Barcelona if they have to sell a central defender this summer. He is able to play out from the back, play at left-back, and push into the midfield from the defense.
However, it is also true that his best football came in a round of three, where he has more defensive protection. While he can play at left-back, it is not a natural role for him to go down the line, and he should not be considered a substitute for Marcos Alonso.
