Sven-Goran Eriksson grants Liverpool wish as line-up for charity match announced

Sven-Goran Eriksson will fulfill his wish to be part of the Liverpool board for a legends match against Ajax in March.

The former England boss revealed last month that he has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has around a year to live.

Eriksson admitted to being a lifelong Liverpool He is a fan and always dreamed of being the club's coach.

That sparked a campaign by Reds fans asking the club to appoint him as manager for a Liverpool legends game.

And the Premier League giants have now confirmed that Eriksson will be part of Liverpool's management team for the match against Ajax Legends at Anfield on March 23.

Outgoing Reds boss Jurgen Klopp He previously led an outpouring of support and backed the club to plan an unforgettable day for the 75-year-old.

“It was obviously very moving news when you heard about it,” Klopp said last month.

“I first heard about his admiration or love for Liverpool and that he was a fan all his life. Now I heard about the Legends game and stuff like that. I'm not in charge of that.

“The only thing I can say is you are absolutely welcome to come here and you can sit in my seat in my office and do my job for a day if you want. That's no problem.

“He can come and spend some wonderful hours here, I'm sure.”

The Swede will have his family present at the match and will be part of the management team made up of club legends Ian Rush, John Barnes and John Aldridge for the LFC Foundation charity match.

Eriksson will lead former stars such as Martin Skrtel, Djibril Cisse, Jerzy Dudek and Fabio Aurelio, while Ryan Babel will play for both teams on the day.
