PGMOL releases statement after Chelsea star Moisés Caicedo avoids red card at Tottenham

The PGMOL says Moisés Caicedo's high challenge against Pape Matar Sarr was not “serious foul play.”

Shortly after half an hour, the Blue midfielder He came into a strong challenge against Spurs man Sarr.

Replays showed that Caicedo's foot went over his opponent's ankle, a type of tackle that had previously been punished with a red card.

However, the VAR quickly checked the incident and did not decide to call Anthony Taylor to check the monitor.

Shortly afterwards, the Premier League took to its match center account on X to reveal why Caicedo was not sacked for his tackle.

The statement read: “The VAR checked a possible red card following a challenge by Caicedo on Sarr and confirmed that the referee had not committed a serious foul.”

Dominic Solanke opened the scoring against his former club in just five minutes after a Marc Cucurella slip.

Moments later, Dejan Kulusevski struck low into the bottom corner as Spurs looked comfortable at home.

However, Chelsea reduced the deficit in the 17th minute thanks to an excellent shot from Jadon Sancho.

Caicedo's tackle on Sarr followed later in the half, with Kulusevski also seemingly avoiding a card for an apparent elbow to Romeo Lavia.

Lavia was substituted at the beginning of the second half, Malo Gusto taking his place and exchanging with Caicedo at right back.
