Real Madrid look as though they are set for a significant change next summer in their squad, with holes in various areas of the pitch appearing, not helped by injury. One of the positions that will probably be affected is the place of the left-back.
It had been thought that Alphonso Davies was a certainty to arrive next summer, but this is now much more up in the air than previously thought. If the Canadian does not sign for Los Blancos, then Miguel Gutierrez would be one of the first options to return to the Santiago Bernabeu. MD say that on Saturday during their meeting with Girona, Real Madrid Scout Gutierrez as a potential recruit.
Los Blancos have a 50% sell-on clause in Gutierrez's contract, as well as an €8m buyout clause, making the 22-year-old a cheap alternative at left-back. It seems that Real Madrid is not particularly married to Ferland Mendy or Fran Garcia, with the latter likely to move next summer. Gutierrez is arguably the most consistent of the trio over the past 19 months.
