Morgan Rogers is looking forward to another Champions League night, when Aston Villa face RB Leipzig in Germany on Tuesday (ko 8pm GMT).

Sitting beside Unai Emery during Monday evening’s pre-match press conference at the Red Bull Arena, Rogers confessed experiences such as the ones he is picking up domestically and in Europe this season are what he would dream of as a child.

The 22-year-old discussed the impact Emery continues to have on his flourishing career, and how he hopes to continue improving with the club.

He said: “It’s hard to put into words. Everything has happened so quickly, and the next challenge has just kept falling in my lap.

“I’m loving it, I’m enjoying it. It’s my dreams and ambitions as a kid, playing in the Premier League, playing in the Champions League, and enjoying these experiences along the way are vital for me.

“I’m just trying to improve and get better, and there’s not a better manager to be alongside that pushes me every day, that helps me in the good and the tough moments to shine and be the player I know I can be.

“I’ve still got work to do and a long way to go, to get to where I want to get to, but I’ve been happy with how everything’s progressed and where I’ve got to.

“I just want to keep pushing and getting better, and hopefully I can do that with Villa.”

With the festive period fast approaching, Rogers also discussed the importance of recovery, amidst a hectic fixture schedule, and how he and his teammates have a responsibility to push one another, and always be ready when called upon.

The England international added: “The demand of having to play every three days is difficult, but that’s what recovery is there for.

“It’s eating right, sleeping good, training right and knowing what your body needs and understanding your body better than anyone else.

“Everyone’s might look different, and everyone reacts in a different way, but it’s just about making sure you’re right and ready to go when the whistle blows.

“If you’re called upon, you’re all ready as a squad, because we need everybody.

“Every player is needed, because some players might not be at the level, some players might be injured, some players might be tired.

“It’s about the next person stepping up and helping the team, and that’s how you build a team and become successful in all competitions, which is what we’re trying to do.

“We’re trying to compete in all of them and win as many games as possible.”
