Kevin De Bruyne could become Lionel Messi's teammate as several MLS clubs consider January move for Man City star
MLS clubs are ready to swoop for Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne as early as January, talkSPORT understands.
As things stand, De Bruyne can leave City on a free transfer at the end of the season.
But San Diego FC could test City's resolve to retain their title-winning midfielder by making an offer to release him from his contract six months early.
David Beckham's Inter Miami are also believed to be monitoring De Bruyne's situation.
The Belgian international has been in and out of City's starting XI this season due to injuries and non-selection by manager Pep Guardiola.
De Bruyne is understood to prefer a move to MLS over the riches of the Saudi Pro League in the event of an exit from the Etihad Stadium.
City have not yet shown any intention to renew the midfielder's contract.
Speaking about his future, De Bruyne said earlier this year: “It's hard to say now. We will sit around the table in the coming months.
“I signed my contract at the right time. If there is a good offer and you tell Pep (Guardiola) that you want to leave, that is possible.
“In other clubs this may be different. But I have never indicated that I want to leave.
“I have more than enough money. But if an absurd amount arrives. That is also for my family, my relatives, my grandchildren, my great-grandchildren and my friends.”
The prospect of lining up alongside Messi and company would be a true statement of intent for the ambitious Inter Miami who are desperately seeking their first MLS title.
However, the South Florida team is likely to face stiff competition for the Belgian's signature from the new MLS franchise.
