'Very good sign' – Rubén Amorim loves the post-match discussion between the Manchester United duo is 'perfect'
Ruben Amorim believes Rasmus Hojlund's post-match outburst at Amad Diallo is a “very, very good sign” that his players care.
Hojlund was caught having a heated debate with Diallo after the full-time whistle blew when the former's double helped manchester united to a 2-1 victory over the Czech team Victoria Pilsen in the Europa League.
The Dane could and maybe should having had a third in injury time of the second half.
With Plzen putting their numbers in search of a late equaliser, United had several opportunities to put the result beyond doubt with counterattacks.
One of those counterattacks included Diallo having the opportunity to square the ball from the right into the path of Hojlund, who had squeezed in front of his marker.
Had Diallo done it, Hojlund would have been in a good position to score his third of the night.
Hojlund's frustration with Diallo for not playing the ball and giving him the chance to score a hat-trick was evident, as the two had a few words after the final whistle.
Some fans could have easily seen the incident as a sign of discord between the players.
But the boss of the Red Devils amorim I loved what he saw.
“For me it's perfect,” Amorim said after the game. press conference.
“We need to feel something. Right now, we need to feel something.
“If we have to fight among ourselves, it's like a family. For me, it's a very, very good sign.
“We need to feel something and that's important.”
When asked if the dispute between Hojlund and Diallo was a sign that his players cared, Amorim felt the incident showed that “that's clear.”
“When you don't do it, you don't do anything,” Amorim said.
“When you care, you fight. With your brother, with your mother, with your father.
“For me it's a very good sign.”
Amorim also added that he prefers his players to resolve things among themselves when they have disagreements.
“I let the players and the captain calm things down,” Amorim said.
“If I see that it's too much, I go into the locker room.
“But it's their space, they have to talk, fight. Once again, for me it's something very important.”
The victory over Viktoria Plzen also cemented Amorim as one of only three United managers to win their first two games in a major European competition.
Only Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Matt Busby had achieved the sensational feat before.
