Tomorrow night at Stadio Olimpico, Lazio will host Bayern Munich for the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie.
Bayern Munich are looking to book their place in the quarter final for the fourth season in a row whilst Lazio are looking to reach the last eight for the first time in 24 years.
The last time these two sides faced against each other was in 2021, which was once again a last 16 contest in which Bayern won both legs 4-1 and 2-1 to progress to the next round.
Domestically, Bayern currently sit in second place and are now five points behind the league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, after a disappointing 3-0 defeat against Xabi Alonso’s side on Saturday.
Despite this, they have had a very successful Champions League campaign so far, as they finished top of their group by eight points and won five out of six games.
Lazio are currently in 8th place in Serie A and are also enduring an underwhelming season as they are five points away from a Champions League position. They ended a three-match winless run last week as they defeated Cagliari away.
Maurizio Sarri’s side have had an eventful time in the Champions League this season as they finished second in the group behind Atletico Madrid by winning three games, drawing one and losing two.
Team News
Lazio will be welcoming Nicolo Revella back after returning from suspension whilst it is unsure if Mattia Zaccagni and Patric will be in the squad due to their shoulder and toe injuries.
For Bayern Munich, they remain to have a lengthy list of injuries which include Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, Konrad Laimer, and Bouna Sarr.
Alphonso Davies has not been risked due to his muscular injury.
