Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were removed from the Manchester United squad by Rubén Amorim for the derby
Marcus Rashford has been dropped from Manchester United for their derby against Manchester City.
The Red Devils will travel to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon for Ruben Amorim's first derby as coach.
However, Rashford will not be involved with the visitors after being left out of the matchday squad.
The winger has appeared in each of United's 15 Premier League games so far this season, starting 12 of them.
He also started Thursday's Europa League clash with Victoria Pilsen.
Rashford was replaced by the scorer Rasmus Hojlund after 56 minutes in United's comeback in the Czech Republic.
The 27-year-old has scored seven goals and provided three assists in 24 appearances so far this season.
However, he has not scored in his last two league games, in which United lost to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.
Alejandro Garnacho has also been left out of Amorim's call of 18 players for the day.
The Argentine played nine minutes off the bench against Plzen and has appeared in each of United's league games so far this season.
Garnacho has scored eight goals and added four assists in 24 appearances in all competitions.
talkSPORT understands that neither player is injured, with Rashford and Garnacho training this morning.

When asked about his team selection, Amorim told Sky Sports: “We try to evaluate all training performance, game performance, commitment to teammates, pushing your teammates up.
“Everything is at stake when we analyze and try to choose the players. It's my selection. Simple.
“I don't want to send a message, it's just an evaluation and they know it. The players are really smart. They all understand my decision and I have to choose. It's a simple selection.
“Of course the context is difficult because we have to win games and now we have a difficult situation. I pay attention to everything, the way you eat, the way you dress to go to a game. Everything. I make my evaluation. and then I decide.
“There is communication after the last training session. They are fine. They had training this morning and I was there. They trained very well.”
Reacting to the Sky Sports news, Roy Keane believes a move could be good for both Rashford and the club.
“It will be a big talking point because they have been involved in all the other games. He's obviously seen something he didn't like.
“They would have had a clean slate since he arrived and they obviously don't like what they see.
“You will not only look at their performances on the pitch, but also their attitude in training, traveling and how they speak to staff.
“Leaving them out of the team is a big decision, but for us, who have watched United recently, it is not a big surprise. Both players have been poor. You've probably said enough.
“We will see how they react to this disappointment of being left out of a great game. It's a great call from the manager.
“I like to see it. It is putting a marker for the players.”
You hope he's disappointed. The derby will mean as much to a local player as it does to any other.
“We saw it coming, we've been talking about Marcus for the last year about his attitude and his things off the field. It has some problems.

On whether it will be the end, Keane added: “It could be the end for him. Let's not rule him out because he's just not on the team. It doesn't seem right to him.

“He's done well at the club, but over the last two years, don't worry about talent at a big club, if your attitude isn't right and his hasn't been right recently, then it's good to part ways. “
Meanwhile, Hojlund is one of four changes made in midweek following his brace off the bench.
Harry Maguire bricklayer assembly and Manuel Ugarte also enters.
The trio formed by Joshua Zirkzee, Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia Make way as Amorim rotates his side to visit the champions.
However, all three players have been named among the substitutes.
A win for United will take them above Tottenham and into 12th place, although Spurs will be in action later in the day.
The Red Devils have not beaten City in the league since January 2023, and their last victory at the Etihad came two years earlier.
However, United beat their city rivals in the FA Cup final in May.
