Speaking exclusively to Sport Bild, Jamal Musiala has provided an update on his contract situation at Bayern Munich. The 21-year-old’s current deal expires in 2026 and a new deal would see him become the Rekordmeister’s highest-paid player in club history, surpassing Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski, but fans will have to wait a little longer for a positive update.
“There is unfortunately no Christmas present that I can give fans yet,” Musiala told Sport Bild. “There will be no news anytime soon. We have had a lot of games recently, a lot of trips. My focus is on the games. I want to be free on the pitch. Even if you put a lot of pressure on me from the outside, I am relaxed.”
When asked what the crucial factors are in a new contract, Musiala added: “There are many things that I pay attention to. For me it is important that I feel comfortable and can have fun on the pitch, that we are competitive and can compete for the title in the Champions League.
“In summary, all the factors that contribute to this big decision for me simply have to feel good and right.”
Jamal Musiala named Player of the Year
Musiala was named Player of the Year for the German men’s national team last week with 56 percent of the vote, ahead of Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz who finished second with 38 percent, and Arsenal’s Kai Havertz with just six percent.
A total of 145,000 votes were counted.
