Valencia ended a run of three consecutive defeats with a 1-1 draw at Espanyol on Wednesday night, but it is a result that means they are still bottom of La Liga. As such, the pressure remains firm on the coach Ruben Baraja.
There were strong suggestions that Baraja would be sacked after last weekend's defeat to Real Valladolid, but according to Reliefthe owners of Valencia did not pull the trigger to avoid an “earthquake” before the match against Espanyol.
Furthermore, Baraja will also keep his job for this weekend's match against Alaves at Mestalla, although a poor result in that one will almost certainly see him lose his place.
Valencia they have already lined up a successor to Baraja, who will be the former coach of Sevilla Quique Sanchez Flores. He reportedly rejected Los Che's first offer a few days ago, although it wouldn't be surprising if talks resume soon.
