Arsenal They are reportedly in talks over a deal to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to football transfers.

The Lions striker has continued to be linked with a move away from the Estadio José Alvalade having shown impressive performances of late. In 50 appearances in all competitions, he scored 43 goals and registered 15 assists last season and also guided his team to win the Portugal League title.

After that, the 26-year-old has enjoyed a stellar first half of this season, contributing 32 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions. Additionally, he has been impressive for his nation in the Nations League, scoring nine goals and registering four assists in six games this campaign.

Now, football transfers affirm that Mikel Arteta are interested in signing a new striker next year and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko is their main target. The Gunners tried to sign him last summer, but the player opted to stay at the Red Bull Arena by extending his contract.

However, the Slovenian could leave Leipzig next summer and the north London club have been closely monitoring his situation before taking a plunge.

Gyokeres to Arsenal

Arsenal also have Gyokeres on their radar and could sign him if they fail to sign Sesko like last summer. Arteta's side have already been “in negotiations” to secure his service and Sporting are willing to sell him for around £54m.

Newcastle UnitedEdit I also want Gyokeres but the player wants to move to a champions league club, so Arsenal are ahead of the Magpies in this race. The player would be open to a move to the Emirates Stadium if he lands a first-team spot.

Sesko has shown promising performances in the Bundesliga of late and has already scored 16 goals in all competitions for club and country this season. Even yesterday he scored a good goal against Bayern Munich.

Signing a new prolific goalscorer to strengthen the front line would be the right decision for Arsenal and Gyokeres or Sesko would be a smart acquisition.

It will be interesting to see if the Emirates club finally signs Sesko or Gyokeres in 2025 to strengthen the attacking department.
