In the last six months, there has been a lot of speculation about Spain coach Luis de la Fuente and his contract situation. His current deal runs until the end of the 2026 World Cup, but he has demanded a significant pay rise on the back of leading La Roja to success in the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League and Euro 2024.
His current annual salary is 1 million euros, although he wants 3 million euros. The Spanish Football Federation are willing to approach their requests, and as per AS Diarythey offered him a new deal that would earn him 2 million euros a year.
The new president of the Federation, Rafael Louzan, met with representatives of de la Fuente on Thursday, and both parties seem eager to conclude the negotiations. It makes a lot of sense for them to make sure the 63-year-old stays awake given how much has been done since he was appointed by Spain.
