Crystal Palace consider Oliver Glasner as Roy Hodgson’s replacement

As reported via FT, Crystal Palace are considering Oliver Glasner as a potential replacement for current manager Roy Hodgson.

The Eagles currently sit 15th in the Premier League table, and with two league victories in their last 13 league games, relegation to the Championship has become a real possibility.

Therefore, Palace are considering replacing Hodgson in an attempt to ensure their top-flight status remains intact for another campaign. With a plethora of names being linked to the hot seat at Selhurst Park, Glasner is the most recent candidate to be connected to the job.

The former Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt head coach has been available since departing the Waldstadion in the summer after two successful seasons with the club. During his first season in Frankfurt, Glasner led the side to Europa League glory, forever cementing his name in Die Adler’s history books.

In his second and final campaign, defeat to RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal final prevented his farewell from being a joyous one but highlighted the tremendous work achieved in the space of 24 months. This is, consequently, a perfect example of why Glasner would be such a smart choice for Palace if they are to replace Hodgson this season.

While the Eagles will not be expected to fight for the Premier League title, Glasner has a track record of being successful in cup competitions. This could see Palace become annual contenders for the FA Cup and League Cup, with the aim of fighting their way into Europe.

However, whether the 49-year-old deems this opportunity to be fruitful enough is yet to be seen. Since the summer, Glasner has been linked to several European clubs, such as Rangers and Nottingham Forest, and may consider reassessing his options at the end of the season.
