Kyle Walker is the perfect replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold – Liverpool should make a move for the Manchester City star this month.
This is the opinion of the former Reds forward Dean Saunderswhich has urged Arne Slot to attack his Premier League rivals.
It comes as City manager Pep Guardiola reveals the 34-year-old has asked to leave the Etihad in the January transfer market to finish his career abroad.
talkSPORT understands that the defender, who was left out of the City squad that beat Salford City 8-0 in the third round of the FA Cup, is the target of the Saudi Pro League clubs who can offer the player a mega-economic salary.
But the giants of Serie A AC Milan They are also interested in securing Walker's services in a surprising way.
The Italian team is also still interested in incorporating the Manchester United striker Mark Rashford as they look to expand their ever-growing collection of Three Lions stars.
Currently, Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham are all on the San Siro books.
However, as things stand, there have been no direct talks between Milan and City regarding a move for Walker.
While many believe the former Tottenham player is no longer at the level to play Premier League football, talkSPORT presenter Saunders believes he is still as good as ever.
Speaking on the FA Cup matchday phone-in alongside former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy, Saunders claimed Walker would be the ideal replacement for the Real Madrid target. Alexander-Arnold.
Despite Walker's push to move away from England, Saunders said: “Do you want me to ruin the process?
“It seems that Trent is leaving, why don't Liverpool sign him?
“There you go, he would be a good signing for Liverpool if Trent leaves.
“I know they have the young man (Conor Bradley) coming through…”
Interrupting, Cundy almost speechlessly responded: “Deano, why did you do that? Why did you include that?”
Saunders explains: “By the way, he's still fast, and if Trent leaves…”
Later in the programme, Saunders doubled down on his view, before pointing out that he would start for each of City's 'Top Six' rivals.
He commented: “I'd be in the Spurs team, I'd be in the Liverpool team.
“I would be in the Man United team, I would be in the Chelsea team.
“Would he make the Arsenal team? Would he make the Arsenal team. He's better than (Ben) White!”
Saunders then asked if Saudi Arabia would be a good move for Walker, to which Cundy insisted he can still do a job in Europe.
He said: “Of course he could (switch to Saudi Arabia), but I don't think he's ready yet.”
“If they offer him £600,000 a week to go play in Saudi Arabia, I'm not going to criticize him, that makes sense to me.
“But if I'm a club in Italy or Spain watching Kyle Walker… the pace of the English game, it's the fastest league in the world.
“Yes, he's lost a yard of pace, but Kyle Walker's pace is still a match for most in this league.
“I think the fact that he (Guardiola) has said he wants to go abroad, he has done it in England, he has won everything there is to win, go and do something abroad.
“I get it, I see it, that shows bravery and you want to go abroad and prove yourself.”
