Real Madrid, who have solved the Kylian Mbappe situation, will pursue Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies this summer. The Canadian defender is one of their main targets, but the current occupant of the left back slot might not make room for him.
Last summer, it seemed certain that Ferland Mendy would leave Real Madrid, as Saudi Arabia rang him with an offer, and the Frenchman battled constant injuries. This year he managed to stay in shape, and as a result he found his form.
Before the season, Ancelotti called him the best defensive back in the world, and despite the fact that they may be recruiting arguably the best attacking left back in the game, Ancelotti told Los Blancos that he would renew Mendy's contract. The 28-year-old is out of contract in 2025, so that would make sense Real Madrid to offer a new deal or sell.
Relief say that it is not excluded that Mendy is offered a new deal, as Los Blancos wait to see how the Davies situation will play out – even if only to sell him.
The very fact that they are asking for Ancelotti's opinion suggests that Real Madrid are at least open to the idea of keeping him. His injury history and age suggest that it is a good time to move Mendy, but there is no doubt that his return to form has seen his defense improve dramatically this season.
