- Aston Villa Women Vs. Bristol Rovers Women – Sun, Jan 12th 2025, 17:45
Paula Tomàs got off the mark on Sunday evening as she wrapped up her first six months as a Villan with a goal.
The 23-year-old joined the club from Levante in the summer and quickly went on to cement herself as a key figure in the side, racking up 13 appearances so far.
Tomàs netted Villa’s fourth goal in their 9-0 win over Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup last weekend as she found the bottom corner with a drilled effort.
Giving her first-ever interview in English to Villa TV after the game, the defender expressed her joy of scoring her first goal.
“I feel great, it’s good to start the year like this,” she said.
“I’m happy for my teammates that they scored too.”
Tomàs, who was born in El Verger, left her homeland back in July to play abroad for the first time in her career and has been adapting to life in England.
The fullback also shared how ‘happy’ she is as a Villan and how she’s settling into life at Bodymoor Heath.
Tomàs said; ‘I’m happy here.
“My teammates are good and I’m happy about that.
“I like the fans so much.”
The Spain international also states that Sunday’s victory will put them in good stead heading into their return to Women’s Super League action away to Everton on Saturday.
“It’s good, we needed to start like this to feel confident going into the next games,” Tomàs said.
