David De Gea has been a free agent since leaving Manchester United last summer when his contract expired. Rather surprisingly, the Spain international goalkeeper has been without a club throughout this season, despite being linked with numerous clubs in recent months.
A return to the Premier League has been promoted, while clubs in Saudi Arabia are also interested in the 33-year-old. However, it seems that he wants to return to Spanish football, according to reports in England (as 'is covered by AS Diary).
De Gea has not played in La Liga since he left Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011, but it could be a good time for him to return. Several teams could be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper this summer, including Real Betis, Villarreal and Sevilla.
A return to Atleti is unlikely to be on the cards for De Gea, although that shouldn't stop him from returning to action in La Liga. For now, it is unlikely that anything will happen before the summer transfer window opens.
