West Ham are pushing to complete a loan deal for Manchester City's Kalvin Phillips and are hoping to sign the midfielder this week.
David Moyes has long been an admirer of Phillips and there is growing confidence that a deal will be struck to bring the City outcast to the London Stadium. However, no agreement has been reached and the agreement depends on City giving in to their demands.
The conversations focused on the amount of the English international's loan. City have demanded £7m for Phillips, who earns around £140,000 a week, meaning any club signing him will be making a huge financial commitment for less than half a season of football.
West Ham are seeking a compromise on the fee and are working to seal the deal. No deal has been reached and there are other interests in Phillips. Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Fulham have all eyed the former Leeds player, while Juventus could make a late move for him.
In West Ham's favor is that Phillips is open to joining them. Moyes tried to sign him from Leeds two years ago. City ended up signing Phillips for £42m in the summer of 2022, but the move didn't work out. Phillips has not started any Premier League games this season and needs regular football to secure a place in the England squad for Euro 2024.
