Ollie Watkins praised Aston Villa’s response as they bounced back from defeat to Manchester United with a 2-1 victory at Fulham on Saturday.
Watkins registered a brace to take his tally for the season to 18 goals in all competitions, his most prolific to date in a Villa shirt with three months of the campaign still remaining.
Three points at Craven Cottage was the perfect way to hit back after a frustrating home defeat to United.
And it means Unai Emery’s resilient side have now responded with victory following each of their six Premier League defeats this term.
“It’s a massive win,” said Watkins.
“We bounced back after another home defeat against Manchester United, showed great character.
“It’s not an easy place to come, we created a lot of chances, I definitely think it could have been more than two goals.
“It’s a massive three points because Fulham put us under a lot of pressure.”
Watkins added: “We were unfortunate (against United).
“The keeper made a lot of good saves, we missed some big opportunities but we don’t dwell on it, we go again.
“There’s always another game around the corner and that’s what you need to do, have a great response like we did.
“And take our chances when they come.”
