Graeme Souness has admitted to not being Jack Grealish‘s ‘biggest fan’ and believes the winger has not improved since his £100million move to Manchester City.
The England international had endured a frustrating campaign at the Etihad, having starred as Pep Guardiola‘s team completed only the second treble in English football history last term.
But following the arrival of Jeremy Doku, Grealish has found game time hard to come by in the Premier League. An issue execrated by injury, the most recent of which coming in the Champions League win over Copenhagen last week.
The former Aston Villa captain’s form has even raised questions over whether he’ll make Gareth Southgate squad for the European Championship this summer.
Souness revealed that he is not the greatest admirer of the winger’s talents and even suggested that the blockbuster switch to the Cityzens, and link up with Guardiola, may not have been beneficial for the 28-year-old.

‘I can’t say I’m his biggest fan, no,’ Souness told talkSPORT. ‘I don’t see any changes. In fact I think his stats may be worse at City than they were at Villa.’
Asked if Grealish has taken more responsibility on the pitch, Souness replied: ‘Maybe in the sense of dropping back, more enthusiasm to do the hard yards, the hard yards going back towards your goal.
‘But you’re not buying that type of player because he defends really well for you.
‘The priority for someone like that when you spend £100million, he’s going to be the difference in the big games. He’s going to be scoring lots of goals and creating lots of goals – none of that’s happened.
The winger was forced off during the first-half of City’s Champions League win last week
‘Yeah he’s won some big trophies but I’d argue he’s in a very, very good team.’
Grealish was forced to depart after only 20 minutes with a groin injury in City’s last-16 first leg win in Demark.
He is expected to be unavailable for up to three weeks. That timeline would see Grealish available just in time for England’s next international friendly fixtures against Brazil and Beligum starting on March 23.
