All charges were abandoned by the Crown Prosecution Service in February 2023 and Greenwood denied the allegations.

Ratcliffe recently completed a deal buy 27.7 percent of the Red Devils – and was asked if a new decision on his future in United It would be done.

“Yes, absolutely. We will make a decision and justify it,” he said via The Athletic.

“Obviously he is on loan, but he is not the only one. We have one or two players we have to deal with and we have to make a decision, so we will do it.

“The process will be: understand the facts, not the exaggerations, and then try to come to a fair decision based on values, which is basically whether he is a good guy or not, and answer: could he sincerely play well for Manchester United? and would we be okay? I'm comfortable with that and would the fans be comfortable with that?

Ratcliffe also told bbc: “We have to look at the facts, judge fairly and take into account what the club's values are.

“Then we will come out of it with a decision. It is not appropriate for me to comment on Mason Greenwood.”

Greenwood has not played for United since January 22, 2022 in their 1-0 win against West Ham.

Following their internal investigation, part of a club statement read: “Everyone involved, including Mason, recognizes the difficulties in him restarting his career at Manchester United.

“Therefore, we have mutually agreed that it would be more appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.”

Graeme Souness believes Manchester United's Casemiro has proven him right and is not surprised by the Brazilian's yellow card count

In August, United staff were asked to prepare for the potential return of Greenwood but these plans were finally reevaluated.

This was due to backlash over her possible reinstatement, with a fan banner at the beginning of the season reading: “Fans demand Greenwood not return – End violence against women.”
