The journalist provides an insight into the bad blood between Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and the Barcelona star
Joao Cancelo had a pretty good season at Barcelona, from whom he joined on loan Manchester City last summer. The Catalan side are expected to make a permanent move for the Portuguese defender during the next transfer window, and it may not be too difficult to get a deal over the line.
Cancelo has no future at Man City, at least not while Pep Guardiola remains as coach. The pair fell out towards the end of 2022, prompting Cancelo to join Bayern Munich on loan for the second half of the 2022-23 season.
Martin spoke Chain SER to reveal the reasons for Guardiola's bad blood with Cancelo.
“We have explained many times. It is a problem of attitude and behavior. If there is something that Pep cannot stand, it is bad behavior and being overweight. Cancelo's behavior was not the right one, even though “and footballer has a tremendous quality. The same thing happened to him in Valencia. From there he didn't leave because he was playing badly, he left because even God couldn't bear him.
“At Barça, while playing there is no problem, but the day he stops, his character comes out. As long as he has no competition, it will not happen, but to Man City it was different; there was a lot of quality there.”
There is a warning here Barcelona that the same thing could happen with Cancelo, as long as they make a move to sign him permanently. At this stage, it seems that there have been no problems, but that could change.
