RB Leipzig announce new partnership with Puma

RB Leipzig have announced that they have signed a new long-term partnership with kit manufacturer Puma to supply their kit.

This brings to an end Leipzig’s partnership with Nike that lasted 10 years. Puma will be the manufacturer from next season. Sky Germany reports that the deal is said to be worth €100m.

Puma already makes the kits of Borussia Mönchengladbach, Heidenheim and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. The brand has a long history with some of these teams having made the kits for Gladbach during their golden era, whilst Puma also owns a 5% stake in Dortmund and have made their kit since 2012.

Puma also is the boot supplier for several players including Marco Reus, Kingsley Coman Jonas Hofmann and more recently Kai Havertz and Leipzig’s Xavi Simons.

The brand was famously created after an argument between brothers Rudolf and Adi Dassler. Rudolf would go on to create Puma, whilst Adi would create Adidas. Both brands are based in the town of Herzogenaurach just outside of Nürnberg.
