Chelsea have been ordered to shell out up to £6.6million to Brighton for two wonderkids, talkSPORT understands.

A tribunal has decided the Blues must pay a base fee of £1m rising to a potential £4.25m for 16-year-old striker Shumaira Mheuka after he moves to Stamford Bridge in July 2022.

Brighton have also received compensation of up to £2.1m for promising left-back Zak Sturge, plus a further £250,000 if the 19-year-old plays for England.

Londoner Sturge poached Brighton by Chelsea last year and spent the first half of the season on loan at Peterborough.

Since Todd Boehly took control of Chelsea, Brighton have been paid more than £225m for players and staff, a staggering figure considering they have fallen below the Seagulls in the Premier League table.

Brighton's Amex Stadium cost less than half that amount to build.

At a time when Boehly is also battling concerns about the FFP, he could do without having to reach for the checkbook again.

Chelsea are currently 11th in the Premier League standings with Brighton four points ahead in seventh place.

This is a poor return considering Chelsea have signed three players (Moises Caicedo, Robert Sanchez and Marc Cucurella) as well as coaches Bruno Saltor and Billy Reid since Boehly took control of the club in May 2022.

Boehly also fired Graham Potter from the Seagulls in September 2022, but the Englishman was fired after less than seven months in the role.
