Antoine Griezmann has been ruled out of Atletico Madrid's home game against Real Betis

Atletico Madrid host The Real Betis in The league action this weekend with talisman Antoine Griezmann still out injured.

Diego Simeone will continue to opt for caution over Griezmann's return to the team with the France international recovering from injury. a moderate ankle sprain.

The injury occurred in the final stage of Atletico defeated 1-0 in the Champions League round of 16 at Inter Milan on the 20th of February.

Initial estimates put Griezmann's recovery period at “a few weeks” and he will remain in that time before the return leg in Madrid on March 13.

Atletico are expected to win the race to secure a top four finish in La Liga this season and qualify for the Champions League for 2024/25.

The clash with Inter is the main focus of Simeone and Griezmann now with reports from AS Diary confirming that he did not participate in Atletico's final training session of the week.

Simeone is unlikely to risk the 32-year-old in Cadiz on March 9 to keep him fresh for the visit of Inter.
