Ezri Konsa saluted a “massive win” as Aston Villa fought back to claim a late 3-2 victory at Luton Town.
In a game of two halves at Kenilworth Road, Villa held a deserved two-goal advantage at the break courtesy of Ollie Watkins’ brace, taking his tally for the season to 21 goals.
But the Hatters showed plenty of second-half spirit to level matters thanks to two goals in six minutes from Tahith Chong and Carlton Morris.
However, the final word went to Lucas Digne, as he picked the perfect moment to register his first Premier League goal of the season with an 89th-minute header – sparking celebratory scenes among the travelling faithful.
“Massive win,” Konsa told VillaTV.
“It was a really tough game, especially in the second half.
“I felt in the first half we dominated the game, created a lot of chances, got the two goals.
“We’ve seen what they’ve done to teams here previously and if you give away that many set-pieces like we did in the second half, then they were bound to create some chances and they scored two from it.
“But I think the main thing is we got the three points and we move on to next week.”
Konsa was making his return from injury after four matches on the sidelines and completed 90 minutes against Town.
It was a third successive win for Unai Emery’s side and third consecutive triumph on the road.
And centre-back Konsa hailed the resilience within Villa’s ranks to come back and claim all three points.
“I feel like, with us, our mentality has really changed,” he said.
“We didn’t let it faze us. I think when they scored their second goal, you can see the boss on the side trying to calm us down and I’m trying to do the same.
“I think we believe in ourselves as a squad that no matter the result, we can come back.
“And that’s what we did here.
“We showed fight, we showed togetherness and we got the three points in the end.”
