After a difficult first six months, Alex Moreno has firmly established himself as a regular for Aston Villa this season. The 30-year-old has played a significant hand in the excellent Premier League campaign so far, both domestically and in the Europa Conference League, a competition they are favorites to win.
Moreno left Real Betis in January 2023 to join Villa, and still has many fond memories of his time at Benito Villamarin. As he told Relevo (via Sports stadium), he always stays with the club as much as possible.
“I don't miss a game. I have the Spanish channels to try to live a little on a daily basis. I don't miss a game. Since we always play at noon, I have time to watch it later. I follow it, I talk to many people here , from the team.
“I'm still here. I expect them to do very well, they fight to enter the European places and I'm sure that in the end, they can get there with this effort, with this sacrifice they make. .”
Moreno also spoke highly of Manuel Pellegrini, who played a significant role in his career.
“The truth is that he helped me a lot to get my performance. I thank him for all the discussions we had about how to improve in the game. It's very simple. He tells you when you do bad, when you do well, when you have need to improve. He is a good coach and the truth is that I admire him a lot for all the treatment I had with him.”
Moreno also admitted that he hopes to make a return to Betis when his career ends.
“It was very difficult for me because I love it The Real Betis. I love the fans, I love the city and it was a very difficult decision to make, but I'm sure one day we'll meet again. I know I will be there in the future. I'm very clear, and in the end I'm sure we'll meet again.”
