Brentford manager Thomas Frank fumes that Kai Havertz should have been sent off before Arsenal winner's last breath

Thomas Frank lashed out at the referees after Kai Havertz escaped a second yellow card for a “clear shot” before the winning goal.

The 24-year-old was the key man during the Premier League clash between Arsenal and Brentford when he showed up late to earn a 2-1 victory for the gunners.

According to the Brentford boss, Havertzwho was booked in the first half, should have been sent off long before he had the chance to win.

He was involved in a big moment during the match when he went down in the penalty area following a challenge by Mads Roerslev midway through the second half.

While Havertz did not receive a penalty, he managed to escape a second yellow card, much to Frank's chagrin.

Expressing his frustration, he said sky sports: “I think Havertz should not have been on the field when he scored the goal.

“For me it was a clear shot for the penalty.

“If you see that slowly then maybe it's difficult for the referee, but the linesman should have seen it clearly, in my opinion.”

Sky pundit Jamie Redknapp also admitted Havertz was lucky to stay on the pitch before his 86th-minute header.

He commented: “The referee is not in a good position to see this (the second incident) so unless he gives the yellow card the VAR can't intervene anyway, but he's lucky.

“There is no contact and he looks to take advantage there.

“He has to be sure. He has a very good position, but if he's not sure then he can't give it.”
