Liverpool are among the clubs interested in acquiring the services of talented Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov, according to reports Italian publication Calciomercato.
Sudakov has attracted attention playing for the Ukrainian team this season. An attacking midfielder by trade, the 21-year-old has also been a skilful substitute deeper in midfield and matching on the left. However, he prefers to play predominantly as a number 10.
The Ukraine international has played 23 times for Shakthar in all competitions this season, including appearances in the Champions League and European League. He scored four goals and had two assists during this period.
Sudakov has already played 12 international matches for his national team and is a regular for Serhiy Rebrov. Transfermarkt values the 21-year-old £15.3 million but he recently signed a new contract with Shakhtar Donetsk with termination clause of £127.6 million.
Sudakov takes inspiration from Inter Milan ace Nicolo Barella
speaking to sportitalia, Sudakov reveals who his role models in the game were, highlighting Inter Milan ace Nicolo Barella in particular.
“I like Luka Modric's way of playing, and Phil Foden is a great footballer who is showing all his fantastic quality. And I can also mention Barella. They are all very creative footballers with great shots, who have been delivering incredible performances at a high level for a long time. If we talk about Modric, he has been doing certain things on big stages for 15 years. “Barella and Foden are younger, but they have been playing at a high level for at least five years and it is fantastic.”
The 21-year-old also added that although he would love to play in the first divisionHe had no exceptions when it came to the top five leagues and wouldn't mind moving to any of those leagues.
“Of course. As I said, the Premier League is an incredible championship, but first of all I want to play in one of the top 5 leagues and Italy is no exception in this sense.”
According to CalcioMercato, Liverpool are showing great interest in the talented Ukrainian youngster, but face competition from city of manchester, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, among other clubs. With his statements, he has sent an open invitation to all interested clubs to come and sign him from Shakhtar.
As talented as Sudakov is, he may not be ready to move up to the Premier League just yet. His release clause is extravagant and, realistically, no club is going to activate it. Liverpool could be interested in the 21-year-old, but they would be better off monitoring his development but not making a move for him at the moment. If it develops as expected, they might become interested in him again at a later date.
