A hard-earned point at Selhurst Park stopped the rot which threatened to set in after four straight league defeats.
‘When we come to this place, a difficult place to go with the new manager and the crowd buzzing, we know we can get a result,’ said Townsend, who came off the bench against his old side to set up Woodrow’s last-gasp goal.
‘I’ve been in relegation battles pretty much my whole career and it’s just about staying intact at this time of the season.
‘We’re one good game on Wednesday (against Bournemouth) away from being outside the drop zone, which is massive at this stage.’
