Adriana Leon has picked up the Golden Boot award following the inaugural edition of the CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup.
The Canadian forward scored six times in five games to propel her country to the semi-finals where they would eventually lose in heartbreaking fashion to the United States.
Our number 23 began the campaign in sizzling form and racked up five goals in Canada’s opening two games against El Savador and Paraguay.
Canada then edged out Costa Rica to set up a big clash with the USA in the semi-finals, and Leon would bag a 120th-minute penalty to take the game to a shootout.
While Canada would lose on spot-kicks, Leon’s tally ensured the Golden Boot award would be hers.
Congratulations, Dri!
