The Sporting Director of Manchester United to meet Real Madrid during the trip to Spain

It has not been a secret Manchester United Sporting director John Murtough and negotiator Matt Hargreaves have been in the Spanish capital this week, with various issues on the table, above which is perhaps Mason Greenwood.

Murtough met with representatives in Getafe on Tuesday to discuss the future of the 22-year-old striker, who has been linked with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. Links with the latter have been closed, despite a meeting between Manchester United and the Sporting Director of Barcelona on Monday, while Greenwood wants to stay in Spain. Getafe wants to have him back on loan, and have a 20% sale clause on Greenwood. If United demand €50m for him, he will be out of reach for all three sides this summer.

Ace for ESPN, Manchester United also met with Atletico Madrid officials during his time in Madrid. They did not say what the talks entail, but United are on the hunt for a centre-back and a forward. They could be looking at Alvaro Morata, otherwise it seems more likely that the talks were about United sales rather than signings, given that Atletico's defense is faltering and ageing. The same outlet however reveals that Murtough plans to meet Real Madrid always, and also the clubs from Portugal and Italy in the course of the trip.
