Sport Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are likely to activate the buy option for on-loan PSG striker Hugo Ekitiké once his loan expires.
The buy option is said to be between €15-20m. Once the option has been triggered, Ekitiké will be Frankfurt’s most expensive player ever, with the current being Djibril Sow who joined from Young Boys for €14m in 2019.
However, Ekitiké has yet to impact die Adler as most of his appearances have been off of the bench with his only start being against Wolfsburg where he got an assist. The 21-year-old has also yet to score for Frankfurt.
Since the injury to fellow January loanee Sasa Kalajdzic, it is even more important that Ekitiké can get up to speed to become the main ‘pivot’ type of striker they are missing.
It is likely that Ekitiké will be the main focal point of Frankfurt’s attack for the future which will allow more freedom for Omar Marmoush, whilst it will also give likely new signing Can Uzun a chance to get up to speed with Bundesliga football and not rush his development.
