METERManchester United staged a stunning second-half comeback to beat Aston Villa 3-2 in the Premier League on Tuesday after conceding two goals in 26 minutes at Old Trafford.
In the first match since British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe agreed to buy up to a 25% stake in the 20-time league champions, Erik ten Hag's side got off to a terrible start and were booed by their own fans in the first half.
But the atmosphere changed completely with two goals from Alejandro Garnacho and a winning goal from Rasmus Hojlund.
Facing Dave Brailsford, who is expected to play a leading role in leading United's football department as part of their new structure, Villa took the lead through John McGinn and Leander Dendoncker in the 21st and 26th minutes.
Brailsford, sporting director of Ratcliffe's INEOS Sport, sat in the stadium directors' seats and reportedly heard loud boos after Dendoncker doubled Villa's lead, while away fans chanted “Old Trafford is falling” and taunted Ten Hag with songs. of “They're going to fire you (fire you) in the morning.”
But United rallied after the break and Hojland's goal sparked wild celebrations among the home fans and Ten Hag did the same on the bench.
