Athletic Club they extended the contract of the left back Yuri Berchiche until 2025, which will be his seventh year at the club.
The 34-year-old has been a key part of Los Leones since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018, although he has suffered a series of injuries during that time. It remains his record signing, which cost 24 million euros.

This season was also marred by fitness problems at various points, but Athletic and Ernesto Valverde kept faith in him to extend his deal, which he said he was happy to do. He has struggled with a muscle problem of late as well, but is expected to return after the international break. Athletic's next game is against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, before heading to Seville to face Real Mallorca a week later in the Copa del Rey final.
Apart from Imanol de Albeniz, who has seen playing time on occasion this year, Yuri remains Athletic's only natural defender in the first team. They signed Adama Boiro from Osasuna in the January transfer window, but that seems to be a project for the future.
