As reported by Sky Germany, Julian Nagelsmann is not planning on replacing Edin Terzić at Borussia Dortmund.
It is understood that Nagelsmann is hoping to have his future agreed upon before the beginning of the European Championships in June. The former Bayern Munich head coach has stated his ambition to return to club football, but a contract extension with the DFB has not been ruled out.
With Germany’s preparations for EURO 2024 now fully underway with an impressive 2-0 victory against France, their attention now turns to the Netherlands on Tuesday evening. Regardless, this has not prevented rumours circulating concerning Nagelsmann’s future.
As previously reported, Borussia Dortmund were considering Nagelsmann as the successor to current head coach Edin Terzić. However, according to Sky Germany, Nagelsmann views his future elsewhere other than at the Westfalenstadion.
As well as this, the DFB vice president and BvB CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, has recently confirmed his intention of ensuring Nagelsmann remains the head coach of the national team. In a recent interview with Sky, Watzke stated: “The DFB has a very good national coach in Julian Nagelsmann, and it is logical that they are trying to keep him longer.”
Therefore, while it is now clear that Nagelsmann will not be the next Dortmund head coach, his future remains very much open.
