Why does Brentford vs Man United start at 8pm?

Brentford vs United was originally scheduled for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday March 30.

However, it was changed to an 8pm start when schedule changes were announced in early February.

The game was moved due to it being selected for television coverage and is scheduled to be broadcast live on Sky Sports on Saturday night.

Announcing the change, Man United posted: “After the international break, when fixtures include England v Brazil on Saturday 23 March, our month will end with a trip to Brentford.

“The March 30 meeting will now take place on Saturday night in south-west London (20:00 BST) and will be covered by Sky Sports.”

At the beginning of the season, it was announced that there would be more 8 pm kick-offs at the first division.

This was because league officials and coaches wanted more rest for the teams playing on Wednesday night.

However, given that this match comes just after an international break, that reasoning doesn't particularly apply.

Although United especially will have so many players returning from international duty on Wednesday or later, the players' recovery could still have impacted the decision.

In addition to the television coverage, the game will also be broadcast exclusively live on talkSPORT presented by Faye Carruthers.

Comments will come from Nigel Adderley and former Chelsea advocate Scott Minto.
