Darwin Nunez broke a record for all the wrong reasons against Chelsea in a match in which the Liverpool striker somehow failed to score.

Liverpool minced Chelsea at Anfield on Wednesday night in a 4-1 win, but it could have been a bigger score had Núñez had his shooting boots.

There was no denying that the Uruguay international was desperate to score a goal and fired from all corners of the field in an attempt to beat Dorde Petrovic in the Blues net.

He came close on several occasions; in fact, so close that he crashed into the post four times.

This is the most times a player has hit the post in a single Premier League match since records began in 2003/04.

In total, the former Benfica star took ten shots, including one that was forced onto the crossbar by Petrovic and He almost hit an Onlyfans model.

But the most disappointing attempt would have been his penalty shot on the stroke of half-time.

The 24-year-old fired his shot straight into the post which would have put Liverpool up 3-0 at the time and sealed the match.

As it happened, the result was already a formality after a dominant display at Anfield with Núñez providing an assist in the second half, a fine cross from the left for Luis Díaz to make it 4-1.

And while some fans may be perplexed by Núñez's ability to hit the woodwork, Liverpool fans love what he brings to the team.
