'I don't care': Erik ten Hag responds to Gareth Southgate's Manchester United links

Erik ten Hag has said he is not concerned about reports suggesting Manchester United are considering signing Gareth Southgate.

England boss will be considered as replacement for Ten Hag Should he be sacked by the Old Trafford hierarchy, talkSPORT understands.

While Southgate has downplayed the prospect Ten Hag is still feeling the pressure due to a disappointing campaign so far.

Despite reaching the semifinals of the FA Cup, Man United have already been eliminated from the Champions League and are currently sixth in the Premier League standings.

As things stand, they would need to overcome a nine-point deficit if they were to get into the top four of the Premier League.

Such a disappointing campaign has provoked criticism of Ten Hag, but according to the Dutchman we should not pay attention to the noise from the external media.

Speaking to the media, Ten Hag said: “You know when you are working on manchester united that there will always be noise and rumors around the club, the team, the coach, the players, whatever.

They always have some problem. You like to talk about it and of course we have a different interest, but we don't focus on that.

“We are focusing on the process. “We’re focusing on making the team play better and improving the way we play, so yeah, I don’t care about that.”

When asked about the pressure he is under at Old Trafford, Ten Hag said: “I was trained at Ajax and it was similar.

“When you work at the best football clubs you get used to it, so it doesn't matter to us.

“The players don't care, I don't care and we are working and cooperating together on the boat and we know we have to get the right results.”
