Tottenham Hotspur could ensure Chelsea The signing of star Conor Gallagher before the end of this window, according to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Lilywhites have been busy this winter window, having already signed Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin to bolster their front and back line.
However, it has been suggested that Ange Postecoglou also wants to sign a new midfielder before the deadline, with Gallagher being mentioned as the top option.
He has been recently reported that Chelsea are open to cashing in on the midfielder in this winter window to balance the book after having spent around £1bn in recent transfer windows.
Now, talking to SPORTS GIFT, Roman has reported that there is a “possibility” of Spurs securing the midfielder's signature at the end of this window. However, the north London club are yet to make any formal approach to Chelsea to sign the 23-year-old.
Gallagher to Tottenham
The journalist also states that Tottenham have not started talks with the player's representatives to reach an agreement to sign him. Therefore, it seems unlikely that Spurs will be able to sign the Chelsea star before the deadline.
Romano said:
“That's still a possibility, and we've been hearing that basically since September. At the moment Chelsea has not yet received any direct call from Tottenham, we will see if it happens in the last hours of the transfer market, but for now the situation remains the same. “The players have also not received any direct messages from Tottenham yet.”
It has been suggested that Chelsea want a fee of around £80 million to rent their star man is leaving, although he has entered the final 18 months of his current contract. So Spurs will have to spend a lot of money to acquire the 23-year-old's service.
Gallagher is a highly talented player and has the potential to become a top midfielder in the future. Therefore, he would be a big coup for the north London club if they buy him late in this window.
However, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can finally sign the England international to strengthen the engine room.
