Heung-min Son has been “a mile away” from his usual form on the Tottenham pitch amid a decline in form.
That's the view of talkSPORT's Simon Jordan, who revealed rumors about south korean star He underwent surgery and it may have affected his physical condition.
The son has become one of Spurs' most iconic players since completing a £22m move from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.
The winger has scored 169 goals in 431 appearances for the north London side, becoming one of the first names in their starting eleven.
He even won the Premier League Golden Boot alongside Liverpool's Mohamed Salah at the end of the 2021/22 campaign with 23 goals.
Spurs announced on Tuesday that his contract has been extended until 2026, despite his form this season being arguably disappointing.
Jordan He recently questioned the striker and has now offered an explanation as to why his past quality has seemingly diminished.
“Well, I wonder if he's fit,” he told White and Jordan for talkSPORT.
“I mean, I have understood through various channels, not from Daniel (Levy, president), by the way, that he had surgery last year.
“So, some of the things I was seeing in a couple of games I was watching the Spurs this season and I thought, 'He's a mile away.'
“'He doesn't look like the same player who captured all the attention, at one point last season he was the leader replacing Harry Kane. He looks like a bit part.'
“Maybe it's because he's not 100%, so I was wondering if Son had run his course and if it was time for Tottenham to change. Obviously not.”
Son has scored five goals and assisted six others in 17 Premier League games this season, but has not contributed in the last four.
Previous campaigns, including the last one, have seen him double these numbers at this point in the Spurs' schedule.
However, he remains an integral part of the team, especially as Spurs have suffered several injury problems in all areas of the pitch.
Ange Postecoglou sat him on the bench in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Newcastle, although he replaced him in the 62nd minute.
The 32-year-old suffered a hamstring injury earlier in the campaign but has remained relatively fit since then.
Spurs will hope Son can add to his goal tally this season when they face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Postecoglou's team receives the Premier League leader in the first leg. live on talkSPORTafter a streak of four games without winning.
They have beaten Manchester City and Manchester United on their way to the quarter-finals, but Liverpool may be an even tougher challenge.
