The couple were also two of EnglandKey players for France's Euro 2024 squad, where Palmer scored in the 2-1 final defeat to Spain.

Palmer He set the top flight alight after joining Chelsea from Manchester City, where he contributed 25 goals and 15 assists in all competitions for the Blues.

Meanwhile, Saka, who won the Young Player award last year, posted career-best stats with 20 goals and 14 assists. Arsenal were narrowly beaten by City to the Premier League title.

However, neither were selected by the PFA, which included five Arsenal players and four City stars.

Football fans were shocked by the decision and social media was flooded with shocked comments.

One X user posted: “Neither Palmer nor Saka, that's why these awards can never be taken seriously.”

Another wrote: “What would a PFA Team of the Year list be without Palmer or Saka? That's a totally dishonest list.”

A third added: “Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer deserved to be there.”

This fan commented: “Saka deserved this more than anyone, to be honest Palmer should be here too.”

And this user simply stated: “No, Palmer and Saka are crazy.”

It was Saka and Palmer's England international teammate Phil Foden who took home the PFA's top award, where he was crowned the Player of the year.

And unsurprisingly, he was named to the PFA Team of the Year, at the expense of Saka and Palmer.

David Raya, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard were Arsenal's representatives in the starting eleven.

Meanwhile, Foden, Kyle Walker, Rodri and Erling Haaland were the City players chosen by the PFA.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk played alongside Gabriel, Saliba and Walker in defence.

And Ollie Watkins, another member of England's Euro 2024 squad, was chosen in attack after a brilliant campaign with Aston Villa.
