Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Manchester United board should “hang their heads in shame” after increasing ticket prices by £26.
That's the opinion of talkSPORT Drive presenter and Red Devils fan Andy Goldstein – who called the decision “absolutely disgusting.”
The minority shareholder has made the decision to increase ticket prices at Old Trafford, raising them from a minimum of £40 to £66.
As part of the price increase, Man United will not offer concessions for children or pensioners.
That decision has left fans furious with a group of supporters formally protesting the price rise ahead of Sunday's 4-0 win over Everton.
Reacting to the news, Manchester United fan Goldstein did not hold back.
Speaking on talkSPORT Drive, Goldstein said: “I've heard some mixed reviews about Jim Ratcliffe and a lot of people I know who work for Man United have been made redundant and they're not happy, not just because they've lost their job, but they're not happy with it.
“He has sacked a lot of people at Man United and now he has done this: a £26 rise from £40 to £66 and no concessions for children or pensioners.
“I have to tell you, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the rest of the United board, this is absolutely disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
“You're supposed to reward loyal fans who stick with you through thick and thin.
“United pride themselves on having some of the best fans in world football and you do this to them?
“I think they should hang their heads in shame because I think it's absolutely disgusting that this is how you 'reward' fans. It's terrible.”
Former England striker Darren Bent And he added: “It's not good at all, especially considering how football is going.
“Football today is very expensive: tickets, programs, food.
“I don't think there are families now; take a father and a son, I don't think it's the same experience as 15 or 20 years ago, where you walk in, you buy your program, you get your food. I just don't think it's possible with the cost of living.
“For Jim Ratcliffe, it was all about the Glazers and how bad they were and since Jim Ratcliffe came along it doesn't seem to have made much of a difference.”
Goldstein continued: “Now he's exploiting the fans and milking them for more.
“From £40 to £66 is a monumental increase, particularly in the current climate where we are all struggling.
“But are there no concessions for children or retirees? It's disgusting!
“Liverpool did this a few years ago and it pains me to say it, but the fans went crazy and the Liverpool board listened to the fans and made them back off.
“The United board and Jim Ratcliffe, if you're listening to this, do yourself a favor and bring it back down to £40 and apologise.
“There are United fans who go without food or without buying a new pair of shoes so they can go see their team and that's how they are rewarded.
“They should be ashamed of themselves.”
