Alan Pardew revealed THAT infamous headbutt to Hull City's David Meyler during a Premier League match in 2014.

Former Newcastle Manager Pardew received a seven-match ban for the incident that took place alongside the Magpies bench during their 4-1 win at Hull.

Pardew He was handed a three-match stadium ban by the Football Association, followed by a four-match touchline ban and a £60,000 fine.

He was then also fined £100 by Newcastle owner Mike Ashley.

Recalling the incident, Pardew admits being “sucked in” by the Republic of Ireland international, who ran for the ball to quickly take a throw-in close to where the former Magpies boss was standing.

The pair then collided and Pardew nodded toward Meyler.

“Meyler caught me, he was very clever,” Pardew told talkSPORT.

“He kicked me when the ball was going out of play and then on the way back I was giving him some verbal feedback and he came over to me and I put my head on his.

“It wasn't actually a headbutt, but when you look at the pictures and the media went crazy, he had nowhere to go.

“I accepted the charge and Mike Ashley fined me £100,000 straight away to take a stand on it – and that was without the FA fine!

“It was a costly situation and I served my time.”

“I had to sit in a hotel room and watch the game because I couldn't be on the bench, which was also very painful,” he adds.

“Was Chelsea We played and I was in a hotel room at the Royal Garden watching it on TV.

“Can you imagine how frustrated I am? “I was running around the room going crazy on my own.”

Looking back, Pardew acknowledges that he shouldn't have been involved in the fight with Meyler considering his team was on the rise.

“To be fair, it was a situation where I should have done a lot better than I did,” he said. “We were winning the game. I think we were 3-1 up at the time, so it wasn't like I was furious.

Asked about the Newcastle team's reaction to the outburst, Pardew said: “Most of them laughed at me and said 'what are you doing mate?' Now you're in trouble.'

“I think they enjoyed it quite a bit, in a somewhat strange way. We won, if we had lost it could have been different.”

Jim White then asked if he had reconciled with Meyler, and Pardew added: “I haven't seen him since.

“I don't think I would shake his hand and say 'how are you?' I'd probably just nod in their direction and say “okay, well done.”

“I'm pretty sure he came back to the dressing room and said, 'I sucked him right there.'”
