Alaves v Getafe stopped after Mason Greenwood's goal

Getafes 1-0 The league defeat at Alaves was stopped in the first half after the canto towards the striker Mason Greenwood.

Neither side have anything to play for this season as they settle for a joint mid-table finish in the race.

The hosts secured the three points, to move two points ahead of Getafe, respectively in 10th and 11th place.

However, the main talking point of the night came at the 18-minute mark, as referee Jorge Figueroa Vazquez stopped the game.

The home fans were warned to make comments towards Greenwood, via the stadium stand, as “Greenwood, die” was shouted by a section of supporters.

The chant died down, but members of Getafe's coaching staff broke out with selected shouts aimed at Greenwood as the game went into full swing.

Getafe are yet to confirm whether they will make a complaint to La Liga with Alaves potentially facing an investigation.

The 22-year-old attacker remains at the center of controversy after being charged with attempted rape, coercive behavior and assault with grievous bodily harm two years ago, but the charges were dropped after key witnesses walked out on the case .
