Liverpool may compete for the title once again with Manchester City, but their “hatred” of United is what makes them their biggest rivals.

Over the past decade, the Reds and Citizens have regularly competed for top honours.

The Merseyside giants have only managed to overcome the Etihad team once in this period, compared to the six won by City.

Only one point separates the two teams this season with ten games left to play following a 1-1 draw at Anfield.

Their matches have become the most anticipated match in the Premier League, with clubs not only from the best teams in England, but also from two of the European elite.

Liverpool have reached the Champions League final three times in the last six years, winning once, and City ended their wait for the European Cup last season after their defeat in the 2021 final.

Still, their intense rivalry has yet to overshadow the north-west derby between Liverpool and United, despite their class difference with the latter in sixth place.

No team has won more English league titles than the Red Devils, who have won 20 championships, one more than Liverpool.

This is despite their last success coming in 2013, when the club enjoyed a disastrous decade in which they only won four major honours.

By contrast, Liverpool have won every trophy at least once, apart from the Europa League, which they are favorites to take home this campaign.

Their rivalry will be renewed this weekend when United receive Liverpool at the Theater of Dreams in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup.
